SUMMARY:Apple Orchard Wassailing 2026
DESCRIPTION:As the sun sets on Old Twelfth Night (January 17)\, we venture out to the orchard to wassail (wish good health to) the apple trees for a great harvest this year. And what is wassailing\, besides something you hear mentioned in Christmas carols? In the cider-producing areas of southern England\, it is a centuries-old tradition to visit the orchard\, offer cider and toast\, make a lot of noise\, and scare off any unwelcome spirits… all of which will lead to a better harvest! Learn more at this quick podcast episode by Icy Sedgwick: “Fabulous Folklore with Icy” and learn EVEN MORE at this terrific episode on Gone Medieval by History Hit. \n\n\n \n \n RSVP for Wassailing 2026\n Saturday\, January 17\, \n4:00 - 6:00 PM \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail(Required)\n \n How many people are expected to attend?(Required)Message or Question for JillDietary Restrictions\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nWe’ll have snacks and drinks (hot or cold\, with or without alcohol)\, and we’ll visit the orchard to toast the Apple Tree Man and ensure a fruitful season in the fall. Noise-makers like drums\, rattles\, and bells are encouraged! \n🍎 Plan to join us for apple picking in September and cider-making in October\, too 🍎 \nBring weather-appropriate clothes and shoes for walking\, should you want to venture outside. You can also just sit around the fireplace and stay warm. We have two friendly dogs who can be kept in a separate area from guests by request. \n

SUMMARY:First Fridays at the Farm - August 1
DESCRIPTION:Upper Midwest Summer Wildflowers – A Coloring Book\nGuest host and author Lisa Yourell of Sparta\, Wisconsin will be sharing the latest in her series of hand drawn coloring books\, “Native Wildflowers and the Creatures Who Depend on Them.” Lisa’s work was recently featured in the Monroe County Herald (article and photo by JENNIFER RODRIGUEZ MORAN): \nLisa Yourell has written\, illustrated\, and micro published this timely piece as a fun and beautiful way to learn more about the wonderful and fascinating wild things we can find right here in our yards and parks. While coloring the book\, Lisa hopes that a deeper understanding of vital native plants\, pollinators\, and other wildlife will become widespread\, as it becomes increasingly critical (and popular!) to add native plants back into our landscapes\, whether it’s a container\, a section of our yards\, or even a rethinking of our lawns- with pollinator friendly\, no mow options becoming easier than ever to accomplish. \nBring your copy of the book (or purchase one at our event for $20) and any favorite coloring supplies (or use the pencils & markers provided). We’ll spend some time indoors and then take a walk in the prairie restoration field\, weather permitting. Plus\, Lisa will have packets of Black-eyed Susans and Prairie Moon Nursery seed catalogs to send home with you! \nOn the first Friday of each month\, join me from 4 – 6 PM at the farm and try something new! Pre-registration is required. \nRegistration for this event has closed. Please subscribe to the calendar to see future offerings. \nYour investment of $10 per adult helps to cover the cost of supplies and drinks. SUMMARY:Book Club June 2025
DESCRIPTION:The poet for June is Jane Hirschfield\, and our leader for this month is Sarah Brehm. Follow the links below to an interview with the author and to her poems. And please RSVP at the bottom of this page.\n  \nFrom Sarah: I learned about Jane Hirshfield via an On Being interview in 2021\, “Jane Hirshfield: The Fullness of Things.” This is from the description: The esteemed writer Jane Hirshfield has been a Zen monk and a visiting artist among neuroscientists. She has said this: “It’s my nature to question\, to look at the opposite side. I believe that the best writing also does this … It tells us that where there is sorrow\, there will be joy; where there is joy\, there will be sorrow … The acknowledgement of the fully complex scope of being is why good art thrills … Acknowledging the fullness of things\,” she insists\, “is our human task.” And that’s the ground Krista meanders with Jane Hirshfield in this conversation: the fullness of things — through the interplay of Zen and science\, poetry and ecology — in her life and writing. \nThe “On Being” podcast is available online and via podcast apps. The web page at https://onbeing.org/programs/jane-hirshfield-the-fullness-of-things/ has links to the episode\, the unedited conversation\, and a transcript. The Poetry Foundation website has a detailed bio and about 40 poems: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/jane-hirshfield. \nThe focus for Book Club 2025 is poetry: powerful words packed in an accessible format. Each month we discuss a different book or author; a member of the group gets to select the book and lead discussion. We’re a casual group\, so there’s no need to worry about the difference between syntax and simile … just gathering together for good company and conversation. \n\n \n \n Book Club June 2025\n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail(Required)\n \n Are you bringing a guest?List name(s) hereMessage or Question for JillDietary Restrictions\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nWe’ll have beverages and maybe a snack\, light conversation\, some time to capture our thoughts in a journal; we may sit or walk outside when the weather is right. \nWe have two friendly dogs who can be kept in a separate area from guests by request. \n

Making personal frame drums is a journey that is individually and spiritually meaningful. Teaching drum-making classes involves storytelling and introspection. The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of life\, the heartbeat of the community. It is not simply an art form\, but a tool for cleansing\, centering and focusing one’s intentions for health and happiness.” \n\n\n\nThe workshop begins with an opening ceremony at 10:00 AM\, and you may arrive as early as 9:30 AM for refreshments and introductions. A catered box lunch from Baker’s Table will be provided; take time to eat during a natural break in your drum-making process. \nPlan on 4-5 hours to make the drum. As the drums begin to dry\, we’ll lead a ceremony to welcome them into the circle of our lives and to dedicate them as individuals for a purpose of your choosing.  \n\n\n\n\n\nInvestment:  $235 for small drum (13″)\, $260 for large drum (16″) \nAll materials plus lunch\, non-alcoholic drinks ands snack are included; you may also walk the trails on the farm. Bring your journal to capture the experience. Bring any musical instruments you would like for the closing ceremony! \n\n\n\nSet aside a few hours to slow down\, tap into your creativity\, and make a personal drum that will connect with your heart and with a universal human experience.  \nJill’s drum that she made with Wayne in 2017

SUMMARY:Book Club March 2025
DESCRIPTION:The focus for Book Club 2025 is poetry: powerful words packed in an accessible format. Each month we discuss a different book or author; a member of the group gets to select the book and lead discussion. We’re a casual group\, so there’s no need to worry about the difference between syntax and simile … just gathering together for good company and conversation. \nSome poems can stab you in the heart and some can make you laugh – Billy Collins writes both types\, and everything in between. Learn more here at the Poetry Foundation: \nDubbed “the most popular poet in America” by Bruce Weber in the New York Times\, Billy Collins is famous for conversational\, witty poems that welcome readers with humor but often slip into quirky\, tender\, or profound observation on the everyday\, reading and writing\, and poetry itself.\n  \n \nWe’ll have beverages and maybe a snack\, light conversation\, some time to capture our thoughts in a journal; we may sit or walk outside when the weather is right. \nWe have two friendly dogs who can be kept in a separate area from guests by request. \n

SUMMARY:Book Club February 2025 with Nancy Noelke
DESCRIPTION:The focus for Book Club 2025 is poetry: powerful words packed in an accessible format! Each month we discuss a different book or author; a member of the group gets to select the book and lead discussion. We’re a casual group\, so there’s no need to worry about the difference between syntax and simile … just gathering together for good company and conversation. \nFor February\, we have a special guest – local author\, Nancy Noelke. She will be reading from her book and will have copies available to purchase for $15. You don’t have to read ahead for this event! \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Keep\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe new book of poems by Nancy Noelke\n  \nIn this moving memoir in poetry\, Nancy Noelke honors each stage of life with a lyric\, tender\, and independent spirit. In poems that chart a 1960s childhood\, marriage\, motherhood\, and divorce\, then map the terrain of caretaking aging parents\, grieving\, and the acceptance and creativity found in aging\, Noelke voices a fierce vitality born from loving herself and her world exactly as they are.\n  \n                                                                 —Rebecca Jamieson\, author of The Body of All Things \n\n\n\n\nRSVP here for February 16\, 2:00 – 3:00 PM ⬇️\n  \n \nWe’ll have beverages and maybe a snack\, light conversation\, some time to capture our thoughts in a journal; we may sit or walk outside when the weather is right. \nWe have two friendly dogs who can be kept in a separate area from guests by request. \n

SUMMARY:Apple Orchard Wassailing 2025
DESCRIPTION:As the sun sets on Old Twelfth Night (January 17)\, we venture out to the orchard to wassail (wish good health to) the apple trees for a great harvest this year. And what is wassailing\, besides something you hear mentioned in Christmas carols? In the cider-producing areas of southern England\, it is a centuries-old tradition to visit the orchard\, offer cider and toast\, make a lot of noise\, and scare off any unwelcome spirits… all of which will lead to a better harvest! SUMMARY:SoulCollage® Autumn Retreat
DESCRIPTION:It’s the first day of deer hunting season\, and maybe you want to get away from it all!\n\n\n\nPicture this: You’ve just created a SoulCollage® card full of beautiful images and you ask it a question … The card answers in its own voice and speaks to you. You find courage and hope; you feel connection and meaning. Your own inner wisdom has become your personal guide at life’s crossroads. \n\n\n\nTo honor the suggestion of one of my class participants\, I’ve created this group retreat time. We’ll have six hours together at the farm to dive into the SoulCollage® process. \n\n\n\nWe start together with a quick review of the intuitive collaging process\, then enjoy a catered lunch from The Baker’s Table in Tomah. After that\, you’re free to create the cards of your dreams with all the tips and tricks that I have learned over years of making these meaningful cards. SUMMARY:SoulCollage® Online Class: Spooky Season
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to lean in to the darkness\, to appreciate the shadow side of ourselves and the world around us … leaves falling\, crows calling\, pumpkins and cider and honoring of the ancestors. Whether you celebrate Halloween\, Samhain (traditional Irish new year’s eve) or simply the joy of pumpkin spice – please join me online for all things spooky! We will make at least two cards together – one to reflect a shadow aspect of our personality (the Committee Suit) and one for an ancestor of your choosing (the Community Suit). Please bring images of your ancestors to use for this class. \nPicture this: You’ve just created a SoulCollage® card full of beautiful images and you ask it a question … The card answers in its own voice and speaks to you. You find courage and hope; you feel connection and meaning. Your own inner wisdom has become your personal guide at life’s crossroads. \nA SoulCollage® experience is the perfect way to change your world! \nSet aside a few hours to slow down\, listen to your intuition\, and make a personal deck of cards that will help you navigate the twists and turns of a busy modern life. \n  \n\n \n \n SoulCollage - 2024-10-19\, Online\n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Phone(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n Registraion(Required)\n \n \n Price:\n \n \n \n Processing Fee(Required)\n \n \n Price:\n $50.00\n \n \n \n Total\n \n Informed Consent\, Release & Waiver(Required) I agree to the Informed Consent\, Release & WaiverINFORMED CONSENT\, RELEASE AND WAIVER AGREEMENT for participation in Hayfork & Sickle LLC programs and services:\n\nIn exchange for the fee paid by you\, Hayfork & Sickle LLC is providing a service assisting you in the promotion of personal growth/self-care/creative self-expression/wellness through the use of modalities that may include\, but are not limited to: SoulCollage®\, nature walks on a working farm\, guided meditations and imagery\, vision boards\, journaling\, HeartMath®\, mindfulness\, and the provision of enrichment materials. DESCRIPTION:Autumn is my favorite time of year – a time to harvest and gather all the wonderful things we’ve creating so far this year. A time to make the most of the remaining sunshine and being outdoors. This is also when we put our gardens “to bed”  – the last weeding and mulching and tucking in the covers. Let’s create SoulCollage® cards FULL of the bounty of the season. Let’s create a celebration of ripeness! \n \n\n \n \n SoulCollage - 2024-09-28\, In Person\n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Phone(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S.
